Bodyguard Training - Close Protection Training

Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry

Once  Completed & Passed This qualification allows the Successful Participant to Apply for an SIA (UK) Close Protection (Bodyguard) Front Line License


Qualification objective

The Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry (QCF) is for learners who work in, or who want to work in the private security industry as a close protection operative.

It gives learners the opportunity to:

  • Develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to become a licensed close protection operative such as planning, preparing for a close protection operation including risk assessment.
  • Develop skills in conflict management and their abilities in managing and resolving conflict in the context of the role of a Close Protection Operative
  • Learn about the legislative framework within which the close protection industry operates; team roles, personal security, and the attributes required, including the importance of team working and interpersonal skills
  • Achieve a nationally-recognised Level 3 qualification
  • Achieve a licence to practise
  • Develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning.

Certificate Units:

The Training is Divided into Three Units with Specific Guided Learning Hours (GLH)

Guided learning hours are the times when a tutor, trainer or facilitator is present to give specific guidance towards the learning aim for a programme. This definition covers lectures, tutorials and supervised study

  1. Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry (56 GLH)
  2. Planning, Preparing and Supporting a Close Protection Operation (76 GLH)
  3. Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry (8 GLH)

Assessment:

  • Unit 1 - Centre Devised Assessments (Theory & Practicals)
  • Unit 2 - Centre Devised Assessments (Theory & Practicals)
  • Unit 3 - Awarding Body Devised Assessment: Onscreen Test/Paper-Based Test

Industry Support & Recognition:

This qualification is supported by the SIA, the regulator for the private security industry (UK).


Prerequisites:

It is an SIA requirement that each learner has a valid first aid qualification. 

Learners must show proof of having obtained a Level 3 (UK) Diploma before commencing the Training.

  • First Person on Scene (FPOS-I) Intermediate Award - 30 Hours (Pearson/IHCD) or
  • Level 3 Award in First Aid Response (HABC) or Equivalent


First Aid Training Can be Provided as Part of The Training Package if Required 


Course Fees: Close Protection Level 3 - €1650 

Medic Fees: First Aid Response level 3 - €750
